Fátima Cunha Velho: When Reiki Meets Animal Care

⏱️ Reading time: ~4 min · Mundo Reiki

At Mundo Reiki, we believe that every Reiki Master brings a unique journey shaped by practice, study, and the experiences shared throughout life.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Fátima Cunha Velho, a Reiki Master from Portugal whose work has become a reference in Reiki for Animals and volunteer service.

A Reiki Master since 2013, Fátima began her volunteer work in 2014, dedicating herself to supporting animals cared for by animal welfare organizations in Portugal. For several years, she worked continuously with abandoned dogs, witnessing stories of resilience, recovery, trust, and hope.

These experiences inspired a purpose that extended far beyond individual Reiki practice. Recognizing the positive impact that regular Reiki sessions could have on institutionalized animals, she committed herself to sharing her knowledge through volunteer initiatives, workshops, articles, conferences, and educational activities for new practitioners.

Today, Fátima serves as the Coordinator of the Reiki Volunteers Network for Animals, a working group of the Portuguese Reiki Association. Through this role, she promotes an ethical and responsible approach to Reiki, encouraging collaboration between volunteers, animal welfare organizations, veterinary professionals, and caregivers.

Her arrival at Mundo Reiki strengthens our commitment to bringing together authentic voices from the Reiki community, offering content grounded in practice, ethics, and compassionate care.

In the coming months, Fátima will share articles dedicated to Reiki for Animals, covering topics such as volunteer work, practical applications, animal welfare, experiences in shelters and rescue organizations, and the role of Reiki as a complementary integrative practice.

We are delighted to welcome her to Mundo Reiki.

Her experience, built through years of dedication, service, and generosity, will undoubtedly inspire Reiki practitioners, volunteers, and everyone who believes that caring also means extending compassion and respect to all living beings.
